Data residency

Where board data lives, which providers process what, and what happens to your data when a contract ends.

Konsaro is made in Switzerland and stores board data in Switzerland. This article explains where each kind of data is stored and processed, and how you can check the providers involved.

Where your data lives

  • Board data: the database, uploaded documents and sign-in data are stored in Zurich, Switzerland.
  • Backups: the database is backed up daily, and these backups are kept for 7 days. A daily backup copy of uploaded files is kept on the application servers in Germany.
  • Application: the web application that processes your requests runs on servers in Germany. These servers also scan uploaded files for malware.
  • Encryption: data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and encrypted at rest by our hosting provider.

AI processing

AI features, such as rephrasing and translating texts or suggesting tasks, are processed in the EU only, with zero data retention: nothing is kept once a request is answered, and your board material never trains AI models. AI is switched on by default. Organisation admins can ask us at any time to switch it off for the whole organisation. While it is off, no content is sent for AI processing.

Email and SMS

System emails, such as invitations, sign-in links and meeting notifications, are sent by a provider based in the United States, using infrastructure in Ireland. SMS sign-in codes are sent by a provider in the United States. Both transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses. The email provider receives names, email addresses and the subject and text of the message, including meeting and agenda titles; the SMS provider receives the phone number and the code. No documents or file attachments are sent.

When a contract ends

Your board data belongs to your organisation. After the contract ends, you can export your data for 14 days. We then delete it, and backups are deleted within a further 14 days.

Check the details for your organisation

  1. Read the sub-processors page on konsaro.com for the categories of providers and their locations.
  2. Ask your organisation admin whether AI features are switched on for your organisation.
  3. To receive the named list of sub-processors, free of charge within 10 business days, or a counter-signed copy of the data processing agreement, email info@softwarevision.ch.
  4. For a security questionnaire or a security review, contact the Konsaro team the same way.
