Konsaro vs BoardPro: board software for smaller boards

—11 min read

A single price tag hanging on a round table, next to a row of small chairs each with its own tag

BoardPro is board software for small and mid-sized organisations that prices per board, not per person: USD 1,650, 2,750 or 4,400 a year with unlimited users, hosted on Microsoft Azure in Australia. Konsaro prices per organisation, from a free plan to CHF 575 a month on annual billing, and stores board data in Zürich. BoardPro fits boards in Australia and New Zealand; a Swiss board that wants its data in Switzerland, an English and German interface and single sign-on will usually find Konsaro closer.

How does BoardPro price its plans?

BoardPro sells three plans per board, in US dollars. Every plan includes unlimited users and unlimited document storage. Annual billing is advertised as a 17 percent saving over monthly billing, and a 30-day free trial needs no credit card. Nonprofits and schools may qualify for up to 40 percent off. Subcommittees are billed separately at USD 82.50 a month or USD 825 a year.

BoardPro plans, list prices per board (boardpro.com/pricing, 28 October 2026)
PlanMonthlyAnnualWhat the page lists
EssentialsUSD 165USD 1,650Agenda builder, board books, minutes, actions, decision and interest registers, governance repository, multi-factor authentication, annual work plan
PremiumUSD 275USD 2,750Everything in Essentials, plus board book annotations, voting, minutes signing, eSignatures, between-meeting reports, flying minutes, a 2-hour priority support target and BoardPro AI (AI Assistant, AI Minutes)
UltimateUSD 440USD 4,400Everything in Premium, plus two tailored training sessions a year, a dedicated customer success manager, two data recovery events a year and 1-hour priority support

One detail changes the maths: voting, annotations and minutes signing sit in Premium, not Essentials. A board that votes in the portal should therefore compare against USD 2,750, not against the entry price. Directory sites quote the entry price differently again: Software Advice and G2 list "starting at $165" per month, another directory shows a lower figure. Treat the vendor's own page as the only reference and ask for a written quote.

What does BoardPro do well?

  • Prices a small board can read and budget without a sales call, in one currency, with a trial before purchase.
  • Unlimited users and storage on every plan, so adding an observer, a company secretary or an executive assistant costs nothing extra.
  • A full meeting cycle for a small board: agenda builder, board books, minutes, actions, decision and interest registers and an annual work plan.
  • Flying minutes, the term used in Australia and New Zealand for decisions taken between meetings, plus eSignatures and between-meeting reports on Premium.
  • BoardPro AI (AI Assistant and AI Minutes) on Premium and Ultimate.
  • Plain security documentation: TLS in transit, encryption at rest, encrypted replication between data centres, and time-based codes for multi-factor sign-in.
  • Support options that are priced and listed: live chat for all users, a 2-hour priority target on Premium and 1-hour priority support on Ultimate.

In short, BoardPro is built for the volunteer or small-company board that needs a tidy system of record and does not want to count seats. That is a real strength, and it is the reason a flat price per board suits many nonprofit and SME boards.

How does Konsaro price, and how do the two compare?

Konsaro charges per organisation, not per board and not per person for the board itself. Free is CHF 0 for one board with up to 5 members, with a 12-month archive and 1 GB of storage, and no time limit. Essentials is CHF 199 a month with annual billing (CHF 240 billed monthly), Business is CHF 575 (CHF 690 monthly), and Enterprise starts at CHF 18,000 a year. Team seats cost CHF 9 (Essentials) or CHF 15 (Business) per user per month for people who work with the board outside it. Every new account starts with a 30-day Business trial. The plan limits for rooms and members are on the pricing page.

What does it cost for a board like yours? A worked example

Muster AG is an invented company, used here only to show the arithmetic. The figures are list prices and are not converted between currencies, because exchange rates move and neither vendor bills in the other's currency.

Invented example: annual list price by scenario (28 October 2026)
ScenarioBoardProKonsaro
Association board of 5, no committeesEssentials USD 1,650 (no voting), or Premium USD 2,750Free: CHF 0
Muster AG: board of 9 plus an audit committee, voting in the portalPremium USD 2,750 + one subcommittee USD 825 = USD 3,575Essentials plan fee 12 × CHF 199 = CHF 2,388, before any team seats
Muster Holding: three boards of 7 with voting3 × Premium = USD 8,250Business plan fee 12 × CHF 575 = CHF 6,900, before any team seats

Read the table for the shape, not for a winner. BoardPro's price grows with the number of boards and committees; Konsaro's grows with the plan and with the team seats you add. A single small board is cheapest on Konsaro's free plan, a growing number of committees tends to favour a plan that bundles rooms, and a single board with many outside users favours BoardPro's unlimited users. Check how many rooms and members your Konsaro plan includes before you rely on the Muster AG line. Our post on per-user versus flat-fee pricing explains the models in general, and what a board portal costs in Switzerland lists the cost lines beyond the licence.

Where is the data stored, and does it matter for a Swiss board?

Whether Australian hosting matters depends on what the board handles. For minutes on strategy, remuneration or personal data of employees, many Swiss boards want the data in Switzerland or the EU and a short list of named sub-processors, which is what Konsaro publishes on its sub-processor list. If your data protection adviser has to assess a transfer to Australia, ask BoardPro for its data processing agreement first. We do not give a legal view on that transfer here, and a lawyer should confirm it for your company.

What does a Swiss board need beyond price?

A Swiss board works in the Traktandenliste, signs a Protokoll, and decides between meetings by Zirkularbeschluss. Konsaro supports each of those directly: an agenda with item types and durations, a minutes editor with version history and PDF export, and digital circular resolutions that use the same vote options as a meeting vote and are recorded by name. Decisions go into a register that carries open tasks to the next meeting. The Minutes Copilot drafts minutes from a Teams, Zoom or Webex transcript, processed in the EU with zero data retention, and the Translation Copilot translates agendas and minutes between English and German. A person reviews every AI result.

BoardPro covers decisions between meetings with flying minutes and signatures, which maps well to the same need. What we could not find on the pages checked is the language of its interface or minutes templates in German, and any statement on single sign-on. If either matters to you, put those two questions in your demo request.

Legal form changes the sum less than the board structure does. A foundation council or an association committee with a single board and changing guests sits close to the free Konsaro plan or a BoardPro plan on price. A GmbH with a management team and an advisory board, or a holding with several boards, counts boards and committees instead, and it pays to price each one separately. If your articles or organisational regulations set rules for circular resolutions, ask in the demo whether the tool can follow that form.

How do you test both with the same board?

A short pilot answers more than a feature table. Run one real meeting cycle in each tool, with the same agenda and the same papers, and score it afterwards.

  • Week 1, board office: build next meeting's agenda and upload the real papers in both tools. Note how long it takes and what you had to ask support.
  • Week 1, chair: ask for one circular resolution in each tool and check that the result is recorded by name and can be exported.
  • Week 2, two directors, including one external: read the papers on their own devices, annotate and vote. Ask what was unclear.
  • Week 2, IT or data protection officer: read the hosting page, request the data processing agreement and the sub-processor list, and check sign-in options.
  • Week 3, board office: draft minutes in both tools (with AI if you want it) and export them. Compare the effort to turn the output into signed minutes.

Which mistakes make price comparisons misleading?

  • Comparing the entry plan with a plan that has voting. BoardPro's voting is on Premium.
  • Counting only the board. Committees are extra on BoardPro, and team seats are extra on Konsaro.
  • Converting currencies on a single day and treating the result as the real cost.
  • Ignoring internal time: setup, training and migration cost more than a few hundred francs of licence difference.
  • Forgetting the exit: ask both vendors how you export agendas, minutes, decisions and the audit trail if you leave.

Which questions belong in the BoardPro demo?

  • Which language can directors and the board office use in the interface, and are German minutes templates available?
  • Is single sign-on available, and on which plan?
  • Which sub-processors handle our data, and where, and can we get the data processing agreement before signing?
  • How do we export agendas, minutes, decisions and signatures if we leave, and in which format?
  • What counts as a board and what counts as a subcommittee for billing, for example a short-lived working group?
  • Is a Swiss or EU data location on the roadmap, and in writing?

Which suits whom?

  • BoardPro, if you want one flat price per board and many users, and your organisation is in Australia or New Zealand.
  • BoardPro, if a self-service purchase with a 30-day trial and priced support tiers matters most.
  • BoardPro, if flying minutes and eSignatures in the Australasian style are what your constitution expects.
  • Konsaro, if board data should be stored in Switzerland and sub-processors should be listed.
  • Konsaro, if the interface and the minutes need to work in English and German, with translation of agendas and minutes.
  • Konsaro, if you need circular resolutions with votes recorded by name, a decisions register and SAML single sign-on.

BoardPro lists USD 1,650 (Essentials), USD 2,750 (Premium) and USD 4,400 (Ultimate) per board per year, or USD 165, 275 and 440 per month. Subcommittees cost USD 825 a year each. Prices were checked on 28 October 2026 and exclude tax.

Where does BoardPro host data?

BoardPro states that its data is stored in Microsoft Azure data centres in New South Wales, with backup in Victoria, both in Australia.

Does BoardPro limit the number of users?

No. The pricing page lists unlimited users and unlimited document storage on all three plans. The price depends on the number of boards and subcommittees.

Does BoardPro support single sign-on?

The security page we checked mentions multi-factor sign-in with a time-based code but makes no statement on single sign-on. Ask BoardPro directly if you need SAML. Konsaro supports SAML 2.0 single sign-on and SCIM provisioning.

Is there a free board portal for a small board?

Konsaro has a free plan for one board with up to 5 members, with a 12-month archive and 1 GB of storage, and no time limit. BoardPro offers a 30-day free trial instead of a free plan.

How is Konsaro priced compared with BoardPro?

Can I move from BoardPro to Konsaro?

Konsaro exports minutes and the full meeting book as PDF and the tasks and decisions register as CSV. Ask BoardPro which formats it exports before you decide, and plan one meeting cycle in parallel.
