Konsaro vs ELIZA BoardRoom: focused portal or all-in-one?
—13 min read

ELIZA BoardRoom is a Swiss governance workspace that puts board meetings next to a KPI cockpit, strategy board, internal control system (IKS), checklists, video calls and Kanban boards. Konsaro is a focused board portal for the meeting cycle only: agenda, board book, votes, circular resolutions, minutes and open actions. Choose ELIZA if the board should work in the same system as management's quality, risk and control work; choose Konsaro if directors, many of them external, need one small portal next to the tools the company already runs.
Who wrote this, and how did we check?
Konsaro, a board portal made by Software Vision AG in Zürich, wrote this post. That makes us a competitor, so we kept to what ELIZA publishes itself: the BoardRoom page, the price page with its calculator and the data security page, all read on 28 October 2026 and listed under sources. Where a page was silent, for example on single sign-on or on the user interface languages, we say so instead of guessing. If something is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
What is ELIZA BoardRoom?
ELIZA AG is based in Bern. Its BoardRoom page describes a working platform for boards of directors, run from a Swiss cloud, with seven modules: meeting management, a KPI cockpit with dynamic charts, a strategy board built around an electronic Business Model Canvas, an internal control system with risk and opportunity management, checklists and standards with a compliance level, secure video conferencing, and idea management with continuous improvement tickets on a Kanban board.
BoardRoom is one view of a wider product. ELIZA also sells ELIZA QM (a management system aligned with ISO 9001), ELIZA HR (electronic personnel file) and ELIZA CxO (an integrated management system for executives), and the navigation lists process management, contract management and a project portfolio. The sector list on the BoardRoom page runs from care homes, pharmacies and schools to municipalities, pension funds and «Verwaltungsrat». So the Verwaltungsrat is one audience among many, and the product's centre of gravity is organisational management, not the board meeting alone.
What does ELIZA do well?
- One place for management information: key figures in a cockpit, strategy work on a canvas, risks and opportunities with SWOT analyses, and checklists with reminders.
- An internal control system that records measures and controls once or periodically, assigns them to people and reminds them when they fall due. ELIZA also advertises automatic IKS reporting for audits.
- Kanban boards for board work such as the strategy process, recruitment, annual goals or a marketing plan.
- Meetings online: agenda items reordered by drag and drop, invitations with a secure link, minutes written live in the browser, decisions recorded per agenda item and a resolution log kept automatically. Attendance can be traced afterwards.
- Tenant separation: each customer gets its own database, storage area, web address and audit log, and can ask for all data as machine-readable JSON at any time. On cancellation ELIZA provides a full export in XML or JSON.
- Certificates for the Swiss data centre it uses: ISO 9001:2015, ISO/IEC 27001:2013, PCI DSS 3.2, SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II and FINMA compliance, according to its data security page.
- Electronic signatures through the ELIZA Sign add-on, including qualified electronic signatures (QES), and an optional AI Assistant.
For a pension fund, a school board or a care home where the governing body also supervises quality, risk and controls, having those in the same tool as the meetings is a real advantage. Directors see the same figures management works with, and a control that falls due can lead straight to an agenda item.

What does each cost, and what is missing from the price?
The two prices are built differently, so compare cost lines instead of headlines. ELIZA's page says you start with 10 active users from CHF/EUR 295 net per month, depending on the edition (QM, HR or CxO), and PRO, which combines the three, starts at CHF/EUR 465. Read-only users and «Lese+» users are priced separately, but the page shows no per-user amounts. The calculator covers up to 50 active users; beyond that you need an individual offer. Setup is mandatory and quoted individually, and the AI Assistant, time recording, learning modules and signing are add-ons. CHF and EUR are shown at the same nominal value.
Konsaro publishes its prices on the pricing page: Free, then Essentials and Business per organisation per month, with team seats on top, and Enterprise from CHF 18,000 a year. AI copilots are part of the product rather than an add-on.
| Cost line | What to ask ELIZA | What to check at Konsaro |
|---|---|---|
| Licence | Which edition, how many active and read-only users; is the board the only user group? | Which plan; how many members and seats |
| Set-up | Quote for mandatory set-up and for document import | Whether any set-up applies to your plan |
| Signing | Number of QES users and expected signatures a year | Not offered; decide whether your process needs signed documents |
| AI | Price per AI user and the data location of the services used | Included in the product; admins can switch it off |
| Training and SSO | Prices on request for training, SSO and Passkey | SAML 2.0 single sign-on and SCIM are listed features; check which plan includes them |
| Exit | Export format and timing (XML or JSON) | Export of the decisions register as CSV, minutes as PDF, audit log as CSV or JSON |
Muster AG is a made-up company with a seven-member Verwaltungsrat, one board secretary and no existing ELIZA contract. Fill the table with figures from two written quotes and run them over three years. Our board software cost worksheet and the post on per-user versus flat-fee pricing show how to do this without hidden items.
Where is the data, and which certificates apply?
ELIZA says it runs from a Swiss or EU data centre depending on the hosting booked, and its price page names Switzerland or Germany. It also states that Office Online and the AI Assistant use services outside Switzerland. For a board that wants all processing in Switzerland, that sentence matters: the base platform and the add-ons may not sit in the same place. Ask which hosting your contract names and which add-ons you actually switch on.
Konsaro stores board data in Zürich and runs its application servers in the EU. AI requests are processed in the EU with zero data retention. The security page and the list of sub-processors have the detail. The certificates ELIZA lists belong to the data centre it uses, and Konsaro holds no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certificate of its own. If a regulator or your group IT demands a certificate for the vendor itself, ask both for the exact scope. Our posts on ISO 27001 for board portals and on Swiss versus EU hosting explain what to ask.
Is one workspace or a focused portal better for the board?
It depends on who opens the tool and how often. An all-in-one workspace pays off when management and the board use the same system every day and the board sees the figures and controls management maintains. It asks more of external directors, who often need only the next board book, a vote and the minutes.
A focused portal keeps the director's view small: the current agenda with its papers, private annotations, votes and open actions. Konsaro does not try to be the company's quality or risk system; it sits next to the tools you already use. Our post on keeping one current board book shows why a narrow view helps directors prepare.
Four typical situations
- A pension fund board that also owns internal control and risk reporting: ELIZA's IKS and checklists may remove a second tool. See also our post on [[software for Pensionskasse boards|/en/blog/pensionskasse-stiftungsrat-software]].
- An SME with a Verwaltungsrat of five to seven, where the CFO keeps KPIs in Excel or a BI tool: a portal that only handles the meeting cycle is easier to roll out, and the Free plan covers one board of up to 5 members.
- A holding with several boards and committees: ask both vendors how they separate boards, roles and access, and whether a director who sits on two boards sees one inbox.
- A school or care-home board that already uses ELIZA QM: adding BoardRoom keeps everything in one contract and one login.
What does Konsaro do in the meeting cycle?
The board office builds the agenda with item types (approval, information or discussion) and durations, attaches PDF papers, and publishes when the board book is ready; unpublished meetings stay visible only to people preparing them. Votes can run before, during or after the meeting and are recorded by name, and the result goes into a decisions register. Circular resolutions use the same options with a deadline. Open tasks can be rolled forward to the next meeting, and the audit log records sign-ins, downloads and data exports. See decisions and voting, minutes and follow-up and the AI copilots.
What goes wrong when boards pick a workspace?
- Buying the whole suite for one board. If only the meeting module will be used in year one, price that module and the exit, not the suite.
- Skipping external directors in the trial. They are the users who will complain first; give two of them a real board book to open on their own.
- Forgetting the add-ons. AI, signing, single sign-on and training are priced separately at ELIZA; list what your board really needs before comparing totals.
- Treating a certificate as a verdict. Ask what the certificate covers: the vendor, the data centre or one product.
- Moving everything at once. Start with the next real meeting cycle, keep the old archive read-only, and export it before cancelling.
How do you run a fair evaluation in four weeks?
- Week 1, board secretary: write down the five tasks a meeting cycle needs (build agenda, collect papers, vote, minute, track actions) and who does each.
- Week 1, chair: decide whether KPIs, risk and controls must live in the same tool. If the answer is no, ELIZA's extra modules do not count in the comparison.
- Week 2, board secretary: ask ELIZA for the 30-day demo platform and start the Konsaro trial; load the same sample agenda and three papers in both.
- Week 3, two directors, one external: prepare for a mock meeting and vote on a sample resolution in each tool.
- Week 4, board secretary with IT: compare written answers on data location, add-ons, export and price over three years; the chair decides.
When should you choose ELIZA, and when Konsaro?
Choose ELIZA BoardRoom if:
- strategy, KPIs, internal controls and risk should sit in the same tool as the board meetings;
- management already uses ELIZA for quality or process management;
- you need electronic signatures, including qualified signatures, in the same environment;
- you want a Swiss vendor with a certified Swiss data centre and can work with a German-language site.
Choose Konsaro if:
- you want a dedicated board portal that external directors can learn quickly;
- access per paper, recorded votes and circular resolutions are central;
- you want to see prices before the first call and start on a free plan;
- AI-drafted minutes and English and German versions should be part of the product rather than an add-on.
Frequently asked questions
What does ELIZA BoardRoom cost?
ELIZA's price page says you start with 10 active users from CHF/EUR 295 net per month, depending on the edition; PRO starts at CHF/EUR 465. Read-only users, the AI Assistant and ELIZA Sign are priced separately, and set-up is mandatory and quoted individually. The online calculator gives a non-binding indication up to 50 active users.
Where does ELIZA host its data?
ELIZA says it hosts in a data centre in Switzerland or the EU, depending on the booked hosting; its price page names Switzerland or Germany. Office Online and the AI Assistant use services outside Switzerland, so ask which add-ons your contract includes.
Does ELIZA include AI?
ELIZA offers an AI Assistant as an add-on that requires an edition and is priced per AI user. Its BoardRoom page does not mention AI. Konsaro includes a Minutes Copilot and a Translation Copilot, with EU processing and zero data retention.
Does Konsaro have KPI dashboards or an internal control system?
No. Konsaro covers the board and executive meeting cycle. It is not a KPI, risk or quality management system, so companies that need those keep them in their existing tools.
Can I sign documents with either tool?
ELIZA sells ELIZA Sign as an add-on with qualified electronic signatures. Konsaro records every vote by name and time in the decision record but has no signing product; if your process needs signed documents, raise it in the demo.
Which languages do they support?
ELIZA's BoardRoom page is in German, and we found no statement about interface languages on the pages we read. Konsaro's interface and website are available in English and German.
Can I leave ELIZA and take my data with me?
ELIZA says customers can request all data in machine-readable JSON at any time and receive a full XML or JSON export on cancellation. Konsaro exports minutes as PDF, the decisions register as CSV and the audit log as CSV or JSON.
